MAHS has a tradition and standard of excellence like no other school in our area. Our goal is to see students become life-long learners and music lovers. We want students in the MAHS Band to achieve their highest potential as they develop into musicians, become more confident, and develop into leaders. Musically, we will focus on tone/intonation, rhythm and proper technique of instrumental playing both individually and as an ensemble.
Activities include: talent show sponsored by the band, winter concert, All-West Auditions/Honor Band, other honor band opportunities, Solo and Ensemble Festival, Concert Festival, All-State Honor Band, Spring Concert. Madison Band Students consistently audition and are chosen for All-West, All-State and other honors bands. Madison Band consistently scores superior ratings at Concert Festival in both prepared and sight reading music and individual students score superior ratings at Solo and Ensemble Festival. Madison Band has also received the prestigious Sweepstakes Award from the Tennessee Bandmasters Association.
I have been a band director with JMCSS for 21 years. This year is my 2nd year at Madison and I am so excited to be here with so many of my former students that I taught in middle school. I have 2 teenage daughters, Chloe and Carly. They keep me very busy and I'm married to Mr. Tony White. During my free time, I enjoy cooking, shopping, traveling and spending time with my family and friends.
